Exploring Ancient Landscapes Under Lake Huron Using Cultural Algorithms

چکیده
The L-CAPS system is a functional interface for learning group behavior using Cultural Algorithms in the land bridge simulation example. It enables the Cultural Algorithms process to implicitly communicate with, modify and evaluate, autonomous game agents restricted to an external virtual world. The L-CAPS system is described and used to learn the group behavior of caribou herds in the virtual world. © 2011 Published by Elsevier B.V. : Cultural Algorithms; Serious Games; Multi-agent Simulation; Crowd Behavior.

Using Virtual Worlds to Facilitate the Exploration of Ancient Landscapes
The Land Bridge – Cultural Algorithms Program Simulation (L-CAPS) system is a functional interface for learning group behavior using Cultural Algorithms (CA). It enables the Cultural Algorithms process to implicitly communicate with, modify, and evaluate autonomous game agents restricted to an external virtual world. The L-CAPS system extends the work of Kinnaird-Heether (Reynolds & Kinnaird-He...
متن کاملEvidence for early hunters beneath the Great Lakes.
Scholars have hypothesized that the poorly understood and rarely encountered archaeological sites from the terminal Paleoindian and Archaic periods associated with the Lake Stanley low water stage (10,000-7,500 BP) are lost beneath the modern Great Lakes. Acoustic and video survey on the Alpena-Amberley ridge, a feature that would have been a dry land corridor crossing the Lake Huron basin duri...
متن کاملA dynamic multimedia environmental and bioaccumulation model for brominated flame retardants in Lake Huron and Lake Erie, USA.
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) may pose a worldwide pollution problem because of their persistence, long-range transport capability, and predisposition to bioaccumulate. The ubiquitous presence of PBBs and PBDEs has heightened interest in determination of their fate. We report results for a fugacity-based dynamic environmental and bioaccumulation mode...
متن کاملAcoustic Telemetry Reveals Large-Scale Migration Patterns of Walleye in Lake Huron
Fish migration in large freshwater lacustrine systems such as the Laurentian Great Lakes is not well understood. The walleye (Sander vitreus) is an economically and ecologically important native fish species throughout the Great Lakes. In Lake Huron walleye has recently undergone a population expansion as a result of recovery of the primary stock, stemming from changing food web dynamics. Durin...
متن کاملPolybrominated diphenyl ethers in the sediments of the Great Lakes. 2. Lakes Michigan and Huron.
Sediment cores were taken in 2002 in Lakes Michigan and Huron at six locations. A total of 75 samples were characterized, dated using 210Pb, and analyzed for 10 congeners of polybromodiphenyl ether (PBDE) including BDE209, as well as 39 congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The concentrations of nine tri- through hepta-BDE congeners (Sigma9PBDE) in the surficial sediments range from 1....
